Why Thomann & Dancetech? - Well, we talked and made approaches to a few of the main UK stores and some with multi-european location stores.. it was a bit of a dissapointment honestly, the whole vibe was - 'send us a proposal fax/letter' or 'oh, we're having a website done now'... just lot's of un-positive hesitation & a general slow non-positive response... Now, if you read DT from time, you know we like people & things that go for it or just do the job!... so then we called Thomann...

The 'Thomann' name had come up often enuff, especialy amongst people we know who work in the retail Uk trade. Thomann's name mentioned to them would often bring about a mild case of apoplexy!.. "They undercut the trade price I get offered", is something we heard quite a few times from UK people in the retail biz... So, we checked Thomann out, and y'know, it's that German efficiency again I guess... Don't ask me why, but from the first call they were just positive, forward looking, & they had already setup the ability for various partner programmes and were VERY enthusiastic!... However, what we were proposing was a little more than a simple 'partner' or 'Links with commissions' programme between us... We proposed our own custom designed in-house store, drawing from the exact same stock database as Thomann's site, with Thomann receiving & fullfilling all order exactly as if they had been purchased though their own portal.

So basicaly, this Dancetech-Thomann store is simply a Dancetech in-house search/price catalog of the Thomann store which you can click straight thru to purchase at anytime. Otherwise you can clip some items into your cart here, and check whenever you like to see the current price Thomann are asking. We update the database of prices every Monday to mirror the Thomann store database.

We wanted this so we could build a customised Dancetech/Thomann store concentrating on the products they would be interested in... This store is not going to make Dancetech rich, but it's another facility we added to try to offer as much facilities for our readers as possible... Hopefully when you see the effort we've put in you'll see we try to do things to help out our readers... it would have been so much easier just to have a standard 'links for commission' thing like you get on most other music sites running partnerships with Stores...

Other incentives?... Thomann were not only positive about our proposal, but offered to help us out too with review items, and more!... so they are also 'putting something in' for the readers, not just using us to get sales... That is a cool move, and over the months we've worked together to get this store finished they have been very cool... In other words, I TRUST THEM!!... as the main owner of this site, that is important to me... I got ALL the right vibes from Thomann... The way I figured it, I didn't want any of those 'foot dragging' negative vibes which might carry over to the way the customers get treated - Add to that the mass of good experiences reported on the www from people buying through Thomann AND their reputation for a good cross-european price, AND the new single european currency, and all-in-all I think we made a good partnership and hope that users will feel confident to buy through this store and thereby help contribute to funding the continuance of the free facilities we provide to electronic musicians on the www.

So basicaly what we're hoping is that this'll be a decent symbiotic relationship, Thomann help us out a bit with review gear, hopefuly people will buy a few things via us and give us some commission, and we can provide facilties for users and it'll all help a bit!
