I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!

that i agree with, it needs 2 be 2 X bigger

but it's the same with that damned apple logic ultrabeat... you've got a 30" apple cinema display and a drumbox on it the size of a box of swan vestas!... or is there a way to resize it?

get?, agreed on vsti sizes though iam on a fair sized screen and some of those guis are ting

no, lol, but i tried it quite a few times and it seemed miniscule & cluttered to me which is a shame cos it sounded great, Battery or BFD is way easier for example

actualy i'm getting a freebie Grey/silver G4 next week (mebbe 2 of them, not sure yet) which might have osx on it but if it doesn't i can bung Tiger on it at least .. i'd like to fiddle more with the OS..

dunno if you can put Leopard on a G4?, some will take it i think ? - but anything to become familiar with mac OS. Mebbe i could run Logic 8 on it? who knows, at least run it enuff to learn Logic 8 more anyways even if it wont be possible to actualy create decent sized compositions, as long as it can do a 3 or 4 of it's own included instrument tracks and 4 or 8 audio tracks that'd be enuff to learn it

I just spent a week messin about with an old B&W G3 with OS9.. yukky OS!, but it was interesting finding all the bits.. i could get it online ok but could i get it on a network? nope! which was weird cos the router was assigning it's IP fine.

anyways i need a Logic 8 machine to start doing a Logic for Noobs series cos i dont think it would be good enuff using an old PC V5 lol although alot of the Logic basics are the same.

trouble is, you see that loverly Mac Pro and you just want the apogee ensemble to go with, which is another 1500 quid!!... dunno if any of my soundcards would work in the mac pro if i got one, so you might have to buy at least an apogee Duet cos apogee control is built in to logic 8 as standard so you know it'll work ok.

I worked out some prices based on thomann for everything, with someone buying it all ex-vat for me and claiming the vat back: - all these macs with basic 320gb drive and 2gb ram - thing is some people on forums have been saying the quad core is so far ahead on power than g5, that unless you want to runs tons of silly plugs it's overkill getting 8 cores... but...

also you can shave some off by NOT taking the thomann apple price and dumping applecare (it'll save you not much but...) you can knock another 500 quid off if you go with a 23" apple screen and frankly another 340 quid if someone gives you logic lol

but thats of course the price for all those systems with the euphonix controllers... thats 2000 euros for those 2 alone, but expandable & professional.

really i'd like 2 mix units but they are 40cm each.. mebbe too much desk width if you also have to fit a keyboard and qwerty/mouse

what the other option? none of the digi controller boards control logic do they?, so it's a mackie and they are the same price as the euphonic but not as cool
