How the heck do you use the vocoder on this thing. The manual does a horrible job of explaining it.

yah, I'll be short about my own findings : the vocoder sucks. get a warpfactory or sumtin for on the side- relatively cheap and effective.

I agree with M. I never use the vocoder. I've got a Warp Factory and Nord MOdular with better vocoders.

I searched on google for "how to use the vocoder on the virus" and this was the first result. really people...

Tell you this Dave, there is nothing so much frustrating as to really worm yourself into get acquainted with something which is quite difficult to get working- and once you find yourself there you realise it's all been for nothing and that it just sucks! Like me and your ma. hehe.. sorry

Funny thing is my mom can get a great sound out of the virus vocoder. Maybe you could trade flap-lapping for synth tips, eh?

Or maybe you should just go buy some more non-working gear. :P

You're right I am jealous... Depeche Mode called just now and said they lost all the kicks from their songs, wondered if I could replace em all. Sadly, my freeware VSTi ain't cuttin' it. Guess I'll lose the gig.

I have worked with it. It was my only vocoder for a while, but like I said. I like the Warp Factory and the vocoder on the Nord Modular better, so I never use it.

Couldn't tell you how to get started 'cause I ain't used it in years.

agreed. completely. i learned how to use and then have
never used it since. it's not the virus' strongest feature by a
long shot.

orange vocoder, vokator and the warp factory all run circles
around it.

Yep, this link should give you all the info you need. Make sure you are using a preamp with your
mic, or else you won't get a strong enough signal.
