Hi, for the first time I have to format my computer (only the C:\ os-drive), i'm running Win XP Pro.
I guess some of you have experience from this, so maybe if you feel like you could give me a list of stuff i should save before the action. Like: internet favorites, fonts, outlook adressbook etc..

And: is there some kind of major ..'thing' i can do to keep my current user settings? Like Control-Panel settings i've changed over the years?
I've had this computer in two years so i can't remember everything i've changed to make it suit my individual demands. Some less important changes maybe, but all in all it would be nice to avoid starting from scratch again.

Regards

just do a search for all your computer session files (*.cwp for sonar, for example) *.wav's, *.mp3's, *.fxp's and whatever user-generated data files you can think of using Windows search and copy anything that's found.

I like to copy *.ini's and other prefs files too.

If you really wanna play it safe, just use a utility like Norton Ghost to image your old hard drive to a few CD's or a DVD. Then if you need to, you can go back and get any file that you erased accidentally.

Make sure you save a default for your music sequencer programmes. I forgot to do this for my Logic AND Cubase and ended up installing them and spending ages setting up drivers and inputs.
