Sailors for a day... if the playing was more confident as in other tracks it'll come together - guitar's a tad boomy again compared to your other songs. I like that style of open-string-chords or whatever writing, i've got alot of bits similar to that i've done on my acoustic.

The Beanman cometh.... - lol, love the way it is kinda like music from oliver postgate animations like Trumpton etc

Malhamdale - much better guitar recording that Sailors, yeah, nice piece man

Adam's Boat - heh love the Gene Vincent bee-bop-a-lula intro (thats what instantly sprang into my mind), kinda aboriginal percussion is nice, some chello on this'd be nice or cor anglais... ah slide! yes that'll do it, heh

Ratty's Return - kinda John Fahey, i'm bound to like the genre cos i grew up with it as kid, and it's well done mate , if i was mega critical there's a few sections weaker than others.

Adrift/Abandoned - excellent harp! really fades good.

honestly? overall, i cant decide about the percussion, one part of me likes it's raw-ness, another part'd like to hear it featured more and by that i mean not louder, but more as a production-recorded sound than a 'in the room' sound, or at least tidy the percussion up to check for pops and overloads on mics or reverb etc

the material if it had work actualy could do something if the artist/s could back it up gigwise, it's the kinda thing that could get round on the alt whatever folky circuit; It's good material (and no cheese!!) admittedly i dunno much about the acoustic scene (for want of a better term), but there seems to be a healthy circuit of art venues and festivals and specialist venues etc supporting that kinda music. my mum has one such arts/gig pub venue near her in Wales, and one week they all go and see 2 or 3 old american blues guys and the next week an african jazz group, the next a ska band etc

i mean if it was produced a tad better it'd sound 'product-y' (if thats not an insult i mean) - it'd sound like a release CD in terms of the material, the playing/performance ability (when it's done right) and the collection of material - it's not all the same but fits together; it "sounds" like a cd in terms of the range of material and how it fits together.

good stuff anyways mate

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!

Thanks for the prompt reply... these are purely demo standard. Though I've been playing a while, I only started playing melody lines when I got the recording gear last year, so I'm still very much on a learning curve. I'm doing a 'music studio technique' course starting in december so hopefully I'll pick up some clues as to what I should be doing then. Your kind comments have been taken on board.. I'd love to put a band of people together to play these but it's a bustlin' time of life at present. Many thanks
cheers
Will

Now then ..... I really like this sound, its rawness is its beauty, clicks, pops and all. Leave them on it feels intimate like the listener is sharing his night with you, and you his.
