i have an upcoming gig on tuesday and had a
few questions for you veteran live acts.

i'm going to be sequencing with Live and have
a motu 828 out to an alesis 12r with a mofx
and a filter factory for fx as aux sends or
inserts.

ideally i'd like to be able to filter or add some
delay to selected channels on the mixer. i am
a little unclear as to how this is possible with
lets say the filter factory without flanging
though. on just the drum channels for
instance, mixer channels 1+2. do i set the ff as
an insert or an aux send?

i've never really used an analog mixer in this
sense so please pardon what may seem like
a stupid question.

gracias!

If you want to be able to apply the FX to any channel at various points during the show, set up the FX on an aux buss and bring the returns back into a channel pair to mix into the main mix to taste.

Certain FX combinations may still give you a little flanging effect, and if you must eliminte the flanging possibility, you might want to dedicate the FX to a particular channel via using it on the inserts, then if you don't want the FX on, you just bypass the FF or what have you from the FF box itself...

Hope that helps and good luck!

for filtering, it could be aproblem but for delays, etc, just use the send and return, man. Ive done it MANY times

in fact...all my old recordings...send and..oh..not return, but back into channels.

but for filtering youd want to have an all wet FX signal anyway or the effect wouldnt be as noticeable...
