AudioTrak Maya

The AudioTrak MAYA is owned/marketted by AudioTrak, part of the Ego-Sys group who make the WammiRack & WammiBox products - This Maya card is the basic card used in the cheapest Carillion music PC systems which have been getting alot of attention lately -

MAYA comes with various driver support - ASIO 2.0, DirectSound, MME & also they have been trying WDM drivers on the SONAR newsgroup where they got a few people to beta the card/drivers - The results seemd on the majority to be ok - (you can read about it yourself by joining the SONAR newsgroup)

AudioTrak claim their drivers yield ultra-low latency: "3ms at 44.1kHz using Steinberg's ASIO driver, and an exceptional 1.5ms using Cakewalk's SONAR." - But in real-life these will need to be set higher asis usualy the case when working with reasonable track-rates. Still, if reports are anything to go by, the card yeilds results as good as any others and is certainly one of the cheapest you can get for decent realtime work with low-latency in the popular sequencer packages.

Maya uses 20-bit DAC, (digital-to-analog converters) & 18-bit ADC, (analog-to-digital converters) - It has RCA-connectors for it's I/O, and whilst lower bitrate than the usual 24bit cards now available, the results will stuill be fine for audio PC work; especialy given the cheap price - One unusual feature is the included microphone preamp with phantom power (although no, you won't get a proper XLR mic connector).

MAYA also provides an optical digital output (S/PDIF, TOS-Link). It is possible to output signals with 44.1 and 48kHz sample rates via this socket, allowing you to transfer signals to MD or DAT-recorders without any signal loss.

All functions of the card can be controlled with the applet/driver Control Panel.

The suggested retail price is: $109.95 (US), but I've seen it for $100 flat. - Anyways, just addinmg it to the listings for people wanting the various available options. As noted, this is the card Carillion?Turnkey choose for their basic Carillion audio-pc starter system, but then again, they are also the Uk distributor getting them for at least $50 bucks each trade, so hardly surprising they use them :) - still... they must work ok, and as i say, reports on the SONAR newsgroup has been good. - The downside for Uk users is it might be hard to get one without going thru Turnkey. But they are also I expect available in Europe from Thomann.

Oh and also on the site it says:

"Note: INCA88 and MAYA are now available in a new hardware revision: both cards now support mainboards based on VIA chipsets! "

There ya go - the AudioTrak MAYA - The only downside I can see is there is no Midi included. They also make the Miditrak 2120 midi 2x2 port card which connects to the MAYA with an internal connector link and requires no extra allocated IRQ... but then to add that at another 70 bucks it kinda doesn't make the card quite so cheap anymore. Still... any user comments please add 'em....
