The limited-edition JU-06 is an authentic recreation of the iconic JUNO-106 synthesiser. Sometimes described as one of the last great synths of the analog era, the JUNO-106 became a favorite thanks to its warm sounds and instant sound-shaping ability.
The new 4-voice JU-06 module continues this approach, with 23 parameters controllable via the front panel and that classic JUNO sound – complete with the much-loved JUNO chorus effect.
There are some new additions too, including a faster LFO and continuously variable hi-pass filter (HPF). You can even slide the JU-06 into the optional K-25m keyboard unit for a self-contained, go-anywhere synth experience.
Like all three of the first Boutique series releases the JU-06 offers a very reduced 4 voice synth engine, however like the others you can connect 2 units in Chain-Mode to get 8 note polyphony, with one unit acting as master for the controls.
The K-25m keyboard unit
Like all the Boutique range, the JU-06 can be used as a tabletop module triggered from any 3rd party MIDI keyboard controller or directly from any DAW external MIDI track, but a further option is to add the optional K-25m keyboard unit which connects to any of the Boutique modules using an included ribbon cable.
The K-25m is a 25-key, velocity sensitive keyboard designed for use with the Roland Boutique series. Measuring less than 12″ across, the K-25m acts as a dock for any Roland Boutique module, and once in place the module can be tilted at two different angles for easier viewing and sound programming, or can be laid completely flat.
The K-25m retails at around £95 from most music tech suppliers.
Also like with most of the Roland Boutique range the JU-06 has USB & can connect and stream its audio to your DAW via USB & also function as a USB audio & MIDI interface with a mini-jack stereo input.
The JU-60 is still in production but Roland has since released the updated JU-60A which also features a modeled emulation of the Juno-60 & you can switch betwen the Juno-60 & Juno-106 emulations with a front-panel select button.
