Very clean sound. The effects are great too.
I have the "trio" ---> Vm3100 pro, VSR-880, and the SRV3030D.
Takes some time learning all of the routing capabilities though.

My VM-3100 crashed the same way so I guess it's true that the Roland VM-3100 got problems.
And by the way , if you are in some east-country, with only a distribution of Roland (not service or repair center) DON'T BUY IT because I did it and NO ONE from ROLAND COMPANY DOES NOT WANT TO HELP ME , only if I GO TO USA or UK or GERMANY on MY MONEY!!!!!!

I have now two of VM3100PRO that have the same problem, the menu isn't loading anymore... .... I was my mistake that I was trying to use the midi for controlling the mixers.
I think that the Vm3100 and VM3100PRO has some big on the midi bffer and if that boffer overflows... ... the software will crash.
My bad luck is that I from Romania and the mixers are from canada and germany, and Roland Romania don't want to repair it, the say to send them to canada and germany to the stores that sold them to me.

NOTE: the following happened to me as well. THE ROLAND 3100 WILL FREEZE IF YOU PRESS SHIFT + BANK 1-8 (NOT PRO VERSION, ONLY REGULAR ROLAND 3100) LCD DISPLAY WILL CRUMBLE, OR TURN UP BLANK.
I thought it might be a bug or something and did this like three or four times. Then when I went to re-power the forth time the unit had no display. The screen lights up but has no text or anything. There has to be a way to reset this thing. But I think only Roland can do it. I have two Roland VM-3100Pro and love them just had the VM-3100 for more inputs and for on the road useage.

i just got the vm-3100pro w/ RCP-1 soundcard. i don;t have any drivers for the soundcard and i'm not to sure which programs i can run the mixer with could someone please point me in the right directions for both issues.

Hey email me I have the drivers for the card on CD I could make an image of the disk drivers for you. I also have a backup copy of the Logic RPC ver 4.7 that came with the mixer. I could make an image of that for you as well. Just email me your addy. You can even call Roland as well and request the disk that is if they still have them.

The VM3100PRO EEPROM must be rewrite.
The cost is about 200$ and shipping.

if you look at google image for vs8f-2 (or vs8f-3) you will see an
effects board that looks just like the one you should have inside your
mixer, on the bottom > right.
if it is missing this is way the secondary effect is not working (if it
is, try to insert it again maybe it isn't firmly enough inserted).
