- you mean you want to add programme shortcuts to your startbar ? (the column that appears when you click on START button?)... right click on the taskbar and do: properties / start menu programmes / add

No, next to the startbar in Win98 you usually get 4 icons (editable), usually for IE4, Outlook Express, Minimize all and Channels. Anyone know what i'm on about?

Yep, the Quicklaunch bar. You can add it using Plus! for Win95 or Desktop Update (which comes with IE4). Not recommended (makes the system clunky and unreliable, clutters up the registry with rubbish or something), but if you must do it (you masochist), then use IE4 SP2 (available on the last bumper collection of utilities which came with PC Answers/UK).

We've found IE 5 to be pretty stable on 95 boxes here at the office.

Does IE5 include the Quicklaunch toolbar? Not as far as I remember. But yes, IE5 is stable on Win95 (hell, better than Nutscrape, but not Opera).

Opera is the fastest and the most useful for me.I hate being forced to use IE especially as you can't disable cookies etc.I think it's a pity netscape is so shit these days and that most people optimise their sites for use with IE.As for all that quick launch shite I use 98 lite to remove all that crap from my system now I run Logic etc on a partition with no IE or all that other extra useless luggage that win98 foists on us.The system is super fast because of it.

The quicklaunch bar is a part of the active desktop upgrade that shouws up with ie5. Don't install the entire active desktop, just the quicklanuch bar.
