SH-32! 4 parts, 32-note polyphony... sposed to sound like real analog... ROMpler... has 808/909 drum kits...

take a look... looks like Roland is going for a new interface too. hope they got it right this time.

got some stuff from the german website..

It's dual osc architecture, 4 multi..32 voice
7 osc shapes....: Saw, Square, Pulse Width Modulation, Triangle/Sine, Spectrum Noisetimbral
and a Sub Osc and it has up to 20 'variation waves' for a total of 67 to choose from.

Chord Memory-Function, 8 verbs and 25 insert multifx and some pcm (?) drum sounds from both the 808 and 909..it's got one filter, ringmod, osc sync, tempo tap sync, 2 lfo's, programmable arp.

i think roland's forte is meeting the needs of mr. generic.. goes on to extol the virtues of the jv1010 in regards to the musician as opposed to the electronic musician. prolly the same w/ the 505 towards people who want to make party beats as opposed to tweaky beats.

et c.

what a load of crap. it's the brains of a jp8k in
a new tabletop unit with some 909 kiks.
where's the 2nd filter? where's the modulation
matrix? i wish they would take some more
time and come out with something really
dope. the virus or supernova still crush this.

Where did you hear that it was the brains of the JP-8k? Why would Roland market and pack the JP-8000 into a new box after 5 years or so?

Well, it sounds like Roland is using the JP-8k sound engine for the SH-32

here's a sound demo of the unit: http://www.synthsite.com/news/shownews.cfm?newsid=555

Sounds pretty weak to my ears. More of that non-musical clipping when the filter closes.   Though the filter does sound a little better than the JP-8k. But overall, from what I hear, this unit sounds like total crap. The only selling point so far, is the price. $ 450 USD for 4 parts. not bad... but sonically, no way

More demos though will give us a better understanding of what it sounds like. But, whattheRoland?
