i'm pretty sure thats just an analog delay masquerading as a tape delay simulator. you'd be much better off with one of the yamaha e1010 or e1005 analog delays. very warm, clean and they usually run between $75 -100. if you've really got your heart set on the real deal, i'd recommend keeping your eyes peeled for a korg stage echo. very well made, and they sound fantastic. really beats a space echo hands down. both the roland and korg units are probably the newest made tape delays you'll find. you won't get that creamy tube sound of an ep1 echoplex but hey $600+ is just stupid to pay for a box that does one thing. granted it does that one thing better than anything else out there, but still, $600 can buy you a lot of other gear. one other suggestion, check out that line6 delay modeller. i had one for a few months and while it fell woefully short of my expectations A. you get decent copies of about 10 classic delays and B. its brand new and under warranty and C. you'll never have to change the tape. happy hunting.

Hey Brad, not sure if you remember me but you sent me a cd years & years & years ago. I've got an extra space echo for sale (I've 3 total), let me know if you're interested in it.
