I wonder how do you make a good trance drum beat.
What effects are u putting on the drums to get them "punchy"?
What effects are u putting on hihats and handclaps?
Do you have many sounds in a drum beat like maracas, closed hihats and so on?
Tell me how you make a good trance beat.

Try to add some reverb or flange effects on the HH and/or on the claps (use drumstation Dt-10 to do it, it's good to make those effects). Don't boost too much the CLAPS volume (it may feels TOO house-like). At each four or eight beats, change slightly the TB303 tune. (sorry for the bad english, i'm from Brazil)

thanx for your comments. Do you know witch sounds Rank1, Airscape and Ferry Corsten uses in their drum beats and how they make them?

use two compressors first one tube so you you get the warm sound (use the tube compressor on all the drums) then use a usualy so you get it punchy (hard) just on the kick, clap, and the snare, then the sounds like the drums flys, then use a reverb on the kick drum and a onother to all the other sounds....if you really want a fat sound use this tip
if you want a good cheap tube compressor bye fatman from tl audio (450 dollar) if you have money check on the dbx compressors, the secert to get fat drums is to use a compressor!!!

if you put a comp on the hats layered on the snare beat, the make it slowest attack, and 12-o'clock ish release and LOTS of compression it makes the hats sorta pump... nice fx to dtrive a beat along - just mess with the THRESHOLD until it starts to whack
