Hey Influx et al.,

I made some revisions and posted a remix based on
feedback from you guys.

Secondly, it is much darker than the original. The intro
is the same but I moved things around and added
sounds and samples to vary things up a bit.

Watcha think about this one? Better? If you have the
time, I'd love to know man.

Thanks,

rob.

p.s. It is uploaded here in DT.

only listened to the remix. interesting bits, grooving bits, too long bits, liked the loop, hated the loop.. nice sounds, didn't like the bass at all. i think you like to sneak up on people. it worked sometimes.

Rob,

Im back. Im likin the remix a lot more. what failed to grab my attention before was all the little things you do. the one shots and the like.

ever listen to swingsett/wally? chocolate weasel? T. Powers earlier stuff? kinda reminds me of that.

as with most tracks Id want to hear this at good quality level...

funny how almost all snares sound the same when reduced like that.

but actually...this one would grow on me I think. Might still be a little long in the tooth, like xoxos said. a little too repetitive in a couple spots.

I dig the throb in the background. Id still bring it out more. maybe for 8 or 16 and just let that show real hard?

fuck...hehe..its so hard not to interject your own ideas

well...influx touched on this a bit- that the elements of your track seem to exist OUTSIDE the actual core of the tune..let me better explain, the stabs, one-offs, fx, all seem to take a secondary role in the song..no sound is particularly egregious. i hear this a lot in tunes..it's like youre hearing samples that are just dropped in and out of the tune, but these sounds dont MESH well with the basic structure of the tune...work on trying to better weave(incorporate) those sounds into the overall fabric (structure)of the track. having every aspect of a tune sit well in the mix is definitely a challenge, but once it's done and done right, the difference is amazing..this will do wonders for your music, i assure you. please take this advice to heart, for i feel the 'problem' with these tunes isnt the actual tune as a whole..its just the relationships between the parts. peace

totally disagree about that.. sometimes a really great piece of listening comes about like that. thought the elements were mainly pretty seamless but what i mean is these tracks where you get 4 minutes of awkward disjointedness and the fifth minute you just get used to it and it propels you into a new listening space.

try it for yourself: take a few samples that really don't go together, collage them and let it play for several minutes. at a certain point it starts to seem like it could never be any other way.

Wow.

This is some great discussion. (at my
expense? Naw. I love the different opinions
about approach.

Influx, yeah! T. Power. I love his earlier stuff.
One of my favorite all TIME D'nBass tracks is
the song that has the vocal intro "drive him
back into his jungle lair...for it is he
who..."something or other. Fucking brilliant
track that still holds up today. But then he lost
me on his album that had a bunch of ambient
stuff on it. Anyway, his stuff is quite the
influence. You rock. I also picked up pish posh
which I think is part of the wally swingset
posse right? That's pretty good stuff too.

I appreciate you listening to it again. You
know, I think I might want to play with the
syncopated beats appraoch that you
described in the other thread. I think, at the
right moments, that might add a ton of flavor to
this track. And then after that, I'm gonna leave
it alone and work on some new shit.

Yo droog, I see where you are coming from
with the disassociated sounds...but I also
agree wtih Xoxos. In my case, however, his
theory may not hold up because my track
probably needs some massaging to get it to
sound like one big happy family.

It really wasn't my intention to make the
sounds be seperate....this is similar to my
feedback of Den of Theives by the way...
