so you wrote a track last night?

I think you just proved my point about spending a little more time on this.

why?.. some of my best tracks took a day or a night - if you work in a studio you HAVE to do a track in a day, the client demands it. going into a track and analysing it to bits doesnt necessarily make a good track. Like writing songs on a guitar, often the best songs come out all at one and are written in half an hour & finished.

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!

yes. on a guitar.

dunno. I dont agree but..

my point was this stuff sorta sounds unfinished. some people do stuff that fast and its DONE...

so i put another three tracks up

i personally think they're better than all the ones i put up yesterday

these tracks, unlike two of yesterdays contain NO samples, everything on there i have composed, programmed, etc.
though i don't think it really makes a difference, what's good is good
a lot of people seem to

oh and about that comment about writing music too quickly, ok i'll admit i'm a little compulsive at times but like i said most of that is because i do everything on shareware and demos
but is very possable and for me probable that good music can be made in one day, with or without a guitar
it doesn't matter how long it takes, it's how much you focus when you're taking it.....you know what i mean?

anyway hope you like the new shit better....

and for everyone who liked the old shit respect

for the record i use cool edit as my encoder

peace

all I meant was..if you can bang something out in a day and its clearly YOURS. your style. some signature sound, good for you.

I never said that picking a song apart is a good idea. it can be fun but at some point it becomes self-indulgent masturbation. One can lose the initial feel of a track very easily as well

but if youre crankin "songs" out every day, and they all sound vanilla, whats the point?

oh..and jilly. I hope youre a girl. if youre not Im sorry cuz I called you one.

Well, I did you a very few tracks in a day's time... in fact '900 Miles To Tomorrow' took me about 6 hours straight but I consider those times to be rare blessings.

jilly, I only listened to the Celtic No More track and I did find it lacking a bit in the character dept. Maybe just work on hook a bit more. I put a lot of weight on melody but you can take that with a grain of salt because not everyone agrees that melody is essential like I do...

Don't be discouraged, obviously a beginner are you with little gearwise or experience having. The journey is a long one with many lessons to learn. Keep striving to improve the skills of you. If we were you (which we are not) we would be careful about overselling ourselves as "talented producers." Humans can see through that sellspeak, one who calls self jilly. One day you may be that and won't be having to "bullshit" others. Let your skills do your talking.

Farewell.

points made and understood....

but i still stand by my songs

the only one that i think is not too good is "Stocking Shelves," and I guess "My Girlfriend's Eyes" could be a bit better, but that's only because I couldn't slowly bring in the volume on the pad and that it had to be done with volume differences on different channels in tracker

but i think "ALF" and "Pointless Relationships" are good songs, and I would like them whether I had written them or not

but nonoe the less I appreciate all feedback given

just to say it.. listened to 3 new tracks of yours a week ago? what i heard was craftsmanship.. something that you wished to communicate. direction and intent.. nice to hear. i forgot i was listening to one track (big pad at end?) which is one of my more meaningful compliments.
