Schaltwerke and Maq11 or whatever... But there all so expensive.. And there sure is a market for hardware patternbased sequencers! I know a lot of techno/trance producers that'd love to have one.. Plz make one..

I second the idea that it shouldnt be over 500 bux...
AND, it needs to have AT LEAST 8 trax, with each track being able to send ANY type of data on ANY channel, Doepher screwed up big in this area.. I mean, you can either get the Regelwerk, with faders but VERY limited sequencing capability (but, with 8 trax and you only get to send note and length data, no controllers) OR you can get the maq16 (any controller data) and only get THREE trax?!"! for 700 bux? they can kiss my **S!! What a crock.. Its not that damn hard..So, dont anybody go off half-cocked and get a Doepher sequencer without knowing what yer gettting into.. I ALMOST did, thank god I figgered all this out ahead of time Well, Futureretro is releasing a really good sequencer that will heat things up, i cant wait..

ALL I KNOW IS THE NEW FUTURERETRO 777 SOUNDS AND LOOKS THE BUSINESS! SOMEBODY HAS TAKEN THE 303 SOUND AND MORE AND TRUE CLASSIC HARDWARE SEQUENCING IN TO THE NEXT MILLENIUM!

It's interesting to hear from people who say they bought a peice of kit and sold it within a week.

There are two points here.

1. You obviously did no research into the item or made any attempt to use one before you bought. Your problem.

2. It is not possible to evaluate a peice of equipement in one week. It may be possible to play through the presets and dislike them but learning a new peice of equipement takes time and patience. Your problem.

This is in response to someone above who said they got rid of the 309 in a week. Why did you buy it ?? If you didn't need its capabilities then why buy.

I have a 309. I also have a Nord 2, AN1x, Pulse, Bass Station and drum station. I would not want to sell any of them.

The 309 is not a 303+808+909 (nor is the MC303) but it's a good box with a useable sequencer. Before you sold the 309 did you ever try using the sequencer to program ? Did you ever use the sequencer to drive any other kit (it is absolutely brilliant with the Pulse).

I use cakewalk. It's great for arranging. However I program much of my stuff on the 309. (and much of my drums on the AN1x !!)

The 309 synth can hold it's own against any other kit I have. Not every sound in a good track needs to be a tearing lead sync sound from hell. I did a quick check, the 309 synth is the only peice if kit I have used in every track I've finished.

I'm not trying to say the 309 is the ultimate machine, it's not (it's not even close). What I am trying to say is that all kit has its place.

Just learn to use it !!!!.

I'd use an mmt8 if it had a disk drive. I'm tired of taking my notebook to gigs and worrying if it's gonna fritz cuz of tha smokers. I've been lusting after the mc50mkII for quite some time and it seems to be the most reliable of hardware ext seqs. I'd like to see some real time pattern player/recorders similar to those found on the Korg N264 on a seq. Also programmable knobs which send mod data (0-127) to midi tracks during recording and which mod sounds during performance. I have to put my Emu Launch Pad before my PC when recording trax to send mod slider changes, and unplug it and reconnect it after my PC and before my Orbit in order to do live manipulation of mod settings.

Hello Novation

Please take this seriously. It seems to have a lot of support - are you taking this topic seriously?

Lots of people would like to do dance music live - especially if would could do our track like we're DJing them. There are lots of ideas I have for doing tracks live but they're all dependent on being able to handle:

Flicking in groups of tracks, not just tracks.

Mute and unmuting groups.

Being able to add in fills!

Being able to merge 'performances' seamlessly.

There is LOADS of scope here. Please make one of these things! Do you have any plans to????

J

you guys should make one good pattern based-sequencer. sometime in the line of those new yamaha ones, but with more tracks and more songs, and one that allows continuous recording throughout the tracks (that's the main weakness of those MC-x0xs...). the QY series where better in this context. dont use a touch-screen, enable microscopic step-sequencing, and out it all in a compact package without all the unnecessary garbage (i.e. 'lazer' beams). look at those doepfer ones..... too expensive....

I'm blown away by this borrowed piece of equipments sound, ease of use and looks. I love the interface and your easy to grasp introduction to analog synthesis in the front of the manual.
It's just a pitty that this stuuny piece of equipment is so damn expensive here in South Africa hence I will keep on dreaming.
