i remember the first time i saw gentle giant....they opened a big stadium show with yes~ headlining......we're talking 70s...and they announced gentle giant and i jumped outta my seat and yelled......whoooooooooooooo...
and everyone around me looked at me like....whaaat??!??!?!

these people thinking they were into progressive rock because they knew who yes~ was.....by then yes~started becoming this all-flash band with boring pyrotechnic wizardy and little substance.....
whereas ray and derek and gang....well.....
they weren't called gentle giant for no reason.

sorry....horacio....but you mentioned them!!!!!!

er, i used to listen gentle giant, well i got a large list of music in my head
the facts is that in some way i associated(?) the music of our lovelyfriend togo with gentle giant. hope this don't disturb you.
as you can see togo begin to spit his stuff on me too but i'm glad by the fact of being touched by the lord of this site, though if you are an agnostic i think you can live in peace cuz your music is very nice mcc.
i have a godd time reading godtogo's replys , his constantly bad spirit makes me laugh a lot

i listen to gentle giant a few times a year still...and sure...
from the 2 songs of twit's i've heard...he has a sense of syncopation and weird timings and abrupt changes and occasionally intriguing melody but!
...like you say>
....................................he is a bad spirit.

and though bad spirits may try to speak to me.....
their voice is not greater than mine.

horacio...thank you for your kind words about my music.

Ah, Clay! Bad spirit? Come on! OK, Clay, I'll be serious for the FIRST time since I've started using these forums. I was only joking. Joking. I think that people take this whole thing way too seriously, and I was making a joke. OK, so it wasn't a very good joke, but, come on, do you really think I'd call someone 'mister spinach tits' if I wanted to be serious? I disagree that I'm a bad spirit: British people have a weird capacity for wanting to make jokes about everything, and I guess I suffer a bit from that nationwide flaw.
As for my music, it's a joke too. I have absolutely zero musical ambition. I don't think it's that fantastic (though I do still enjoy both making it and listening to it) and, compared with the stuff I listen to by others (Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Steely Dan, Chick Corea, among others, if you're interested) my songs are absolutely nothing. I make music for a hobby and, once I'd heard about this site, I thought I'd put some music on. Just out of interest.
I also believe (though it is only an opinion) that music played by men and women on instruments is infinitely superior to that which is programmed, so there will always be that flaw in what I make. You see, as much as I wish I could, I don't play any instruments.
Thanks, also, for what closely resembled a compliment of what I make. Perhaps if I hadn't chosen you as a random target you would have actually gone all the way and said it was good? Perhaps not. It doesn't really bother me.
Finally, notice how I haven't gone on any of the forums where you've been discussing politics. This is because I totally agree with your anti-Bush sentiments. In the UK, our media make us think that Americans are either obsessively pro-Bush gun-nuts or apathetic non-voting cretins. It is genuinely encouraging to see that that isn't the case. I did know already, but still, it's good that people who have the capacity vote Bush out (ie American citizens) are willing (a) to do it and (b) to talk about issues that many people over here seem to think Americans just 'don't understand'.
Finally, your music. I have never listened to it. I think I will now, just out of interest, and maybe even review it properly, instead of just slagging it off.
I listened to Jason J's songs, and found them absolutely lamentable. That's why I did the Jason forum.
You might now think I'm not such an arsehole. You might think worse of me now. It's really up to you. But just remember that it's all a JOKE.

togo...

i'm glad the joke is over.....as there was something i perceived in your music which suggested deep roots and high intellectual understanding of many of music's forgotten or greatly ignored approaches / idioms / aesthetics...etc....and therefor maybe even their spiritually and intellectually corresponding tones.
there was a moment during one song of yours where you brought a movement "home" and my very simple being was able to embrace the high essence of your chosen piece....and i recognized it as significant.
so it was sad for me to hear you compare other people's work to piss shit etc.
even though we agreed about jason j....though we expressed that differently.
i'm glad there's some agreement regards other matters and, like i said....i'm glad the joke is over.

anyway...i would suspect you'll find my music simple
but am hopeful you might find a spirit which involves love and light and a willingness to make mistakes....
an energy which speaks more for life than trying to be this week's latest sound or glossy-slick cultural icon.
and i do enjoy dialogue.
perhaps you might know a place where one actually occurs?

Horacio - He vuelto.
