Its a analog synth made by Roland. It was originally intended to take the place of a real bassist. But did not sell well. And for good reason, it did a pretty poor job. But for electonic music, which is allowed to sound like something other than a guitar, its excellent. I know you have heard one, pretty much everyone has at one time or another. Anyway they are rare and expensive. Not only that, but finding one with non-noisy original knobs is tough.
