i'm thinking it's really time to upgrade from my 433mhz and will probably go with an Athlon 1800xp+ or 2000xp, based on the good advice going around here. what are some good links to north american web sites for checking prices of hardware? i've seen them in the threads before but can't find them now! i've read in another thread that new chip sets are coming out soon - maybe i should wait until after christmas?

cheers!

I check prices on pricewatch or shopper.com, but I usually end up going with newegg.com. They have simply amazing service, easiest returns in the industry, hands down. If you search far and wide on the internet, you'll find the same opinion.

It's even worth a couple bucks extra to go with them, imo. They took back a mobo from me and I shoulda been charged 15% because of the time but they let it slide. VERY cool.

yeah, I'll second the newegg thing. checked pricewatch on every component and they were close enough on each it was worthwhile to get it from one place and only have one shipping charge.

third on the newegg. Had to cancel an order with them...no hassle, no restocking fee, nothing but polite, quick, courteous service

GREAT prices on shit, too!

if you can, you might want to wait for the new releases since thatll mean the old stuff otta drop drastically

not to belabor the point, but newegg even puts a return mailing slip complete with barcode right on your invoice for returns. Outstanding!

I'll go ahead and lay one more egg on top of it...
I ordered an amd processor and they sent over a some blonde albino chick to jerk me off while I installed it.
Nothing but quick, courteous service.

that is good, all that messing about wasting time with RMA numbers is such a waste of time.

Yup, I've been waiting like 6 weeks since my original order to get a motherboard replaced

I should've just bought local...
