If it's not the problem, what is the problem?
I've never used an Akai before, I'm used to the E-mus system. Thanks for the help.

I don't know about the CDD2600, but I couldn't ever get the CDD2000 CDR to work or a JVC CDR. I think burners don't work as well? I eventually had to switch to a Toshiba 2X (don't remember the model). It was kinda slow for big files, but was totally solid so I didn't mind.
Just look on ebay for an old Toshiba, Sony, or Apple. You can get em for like $8 (US). I know their are sites with compatibility list floating around.
Now I have a 2gb Jaz and a Kenwood UCR415 52X "True X" for my S5000. This drive is awesome but kinda expensive.

are old Apple CD-ROM drives.
The ORB drive does NOT read Jaz carts.
I have never used my Orb with the S2000,
since I've got a Zip drive for it
specifically.
Also, remember that the S2000 is
probably a standard SCSI device while
most newer products (like burners and
the ORB) are SCSI-2, UltraSCSI, UW-SCSI,
etc. The S2000 may not be able to deal
with those drives effectively.
Good luck!
