This may sound like a really stupid question but bare with me Im new to this game, Im into house and sampling from old disco tracks but some of the stuff I want has a drum beat in it, is there any way of removing, hiding or covering up these beats so I can add my own.

no. unless you luck out and the drums are panned hard to one side, and all the other material is on the other....

try another part of the record..

recycle chops up samples...but doesn't remove anything.

or you could try eq'ing and filtering to hide the drums - at the expense of the sound of the part that you wanna keep.

nah, it don't work well, you end up eqing important shit out half the time w that. don't waste time trying, spend your time trying to find parts w-out drums. Usually they're at the beginning and end of tracks anyway, so if you just listen to the first 20 and last 20seconds of each track you should be able to blast thru shit fast and find the material you need.
