I have the opportunity to trade my emu Orbit for one. The Orbit is expendable due to the recent acquisitions of PPG Wave & Pro52 VSTi, which I like much more. Anyone have any comments or experience with the 3000i, or perhaps Akai samplers in general?

Much thanks in advance.

3000XL here. great smapler! im don't like the 256 sample limit tho ;( that comes with every akai, except the 5k/6k series. paid $600 (market rate)

btw, the 3000XL is the industry standard.

"btw, the 3000XL is the industry standard.
" - hah ha :0

remember the CD3000 doesnt sample but has s/pdif (& the 'i' suffix means scsi fitted as standard - and make sure it has enuff ram cos the older 3000 series used the old akai ram boards which cost tooo much. what it will do is load and play stuff from akai format sample cd's -

Thanks for the input - I don't think I'll be getting it as the seller just informed me that the CD-ROM is busted.

I do have a seller to get rid of my Emu Orbit for $350 though, so it's cool.

the CD3000XL does have sampling capability, so if you can find one of those you'd have an S3000XL with a built-in CD. The thing that sucks though, when you sample off of it, you're not getting a digital copy, its reading analog off of the CD. I thought about getting one until I read that. Then I just bought a regular S3000XL and used SCSI (BTW, the CD3XL has SCSI standard)

that is interesting... by the way 'xl' on all 's' series models means scsi is fitted with it i'm pretty sure.

no no, XL stands for Excellentis non Limitis, the latin name for a dominant sampler which owns the market share.

nah, it comes from "Xhantu Linugrakis" which is Greek for "nice, but overpriced on the 2nd hand market all things considered". I`m sure.Didn`t the non-xls not have a proper multimode or something?
