I've been looking at the Mutronics Mutator and the Waldorf X-Pole. Does anyone know any cheaper filters on the market? If you've heard any od these filters, please share your opinion. How extremely can your warp sounds?

Peavey also has a filter unit called Spectrum Analog Filter. From what I know the Mutator sounds best (but is the most expensive). As for changing sounds, it's not that extreme; it sounds like putting sounds through an analog filter (!).

You could also get an old analogue synth with inputs for the same effect. For serious sound mangling I would get a Nord Modular/Microm

For serious sound mangling I would get a Nord Modular/Micromodular since you get more filter types as well as things like vocoder and phaser (as well as a modular synth...). Otherwise, most modular systems can process external audio, but that's usually a bit more expensive..

Nope, I know they exist but that's about all I know.
You could always build a small Doepfer system for mangling audio with all kinds of filters, LFOs, phasers and so on if you've got the money, but it's not very cheap.

..or you can get a Korg MS20. Aphex Twin has used one extensively..

Check out the Sherman filterbank too - I don't really know, but a few people have recommended it to me - a bit pricey though.
