I have been reading about all these various cards that you are talking about. They have some of the functionality that I need, but are overkill. I need a card that has a bunch of analog inputs that would be equivalent to having, say, 2 or 4 or 8 sound blasters plugged into a system (if that was possible without running out of IRQs). This is for a PC.
This card is going to be used for voice recognition, where there will be a bunch of microphones all coming into the same computer. Each microphone needs its own dedicated channel (can probably get by with 2 mics per stereo, since the mic input only needs to be mono). I don't need midi, I don't need mixing of channels that come from inside the computer, etc. I just need analog to digital converters for as many analog inputs as I can get. I also need the reverse. I need to be able to have digital to analog for every mic input, since there will be a speaker near each mic that will be used for feedback to the user. So, does such a beast exist, or do I have to just plug a bunch of sound cards into my computer?
And, it must have windows drivers or some sort of programming API that would let me get at the sound coming in so I can feed it to the voice recognition software.
Thanks and please e-mail me as well as posting here, so I know it is here.
