I'm planning on buying an EWS64XL or a pinnacle or
the like in the future, but for now I only have
around £125 to spend. I need something that'll provide me with some sounds, HD recording and sampling
I've found a supplier of the AWE64 gold for £110
but I'm put off of this card by tales of crap
DAC/ADC, poor sampling from CD's, not full-duplex
etc..... so what do I go for?

Ensoniq soundscape?
AWE 64 Gold?
TBS 2000?
DMAN? can I use this as a sampler?

I like the features of the AWE64 (well price) and think it would be the easiest card to sell when I eventually upgrade(the PC gamers love this card). I know everybody says it's shit, but would It do the job for the moment?

I'm looking for a solution, so If you're going to tell me it sucks - what's the alternative at that price?

I've a p233mmx, VST, ReBirth, Soundforge and a Novation Basstation.
