Ok I'm going to buy a new soundcard. I'm not looking for a soundcard to use as sampler or harddisk recording. Just want to get rid of the noise, it should be dead quiet. Price $500 and down.

You can gor for Terratec EWS64xl or TB Pinnacle - they have on-board sample RAM. The 2nd one is reported to have some bugs the 1st one has no full featured sample editor yet. Also if you have FAST system, particulary HD, you can try Event cards (no on-board RAM) and use 'em with s/w samplers like 1100dx or Mellosoftron.
