Well I bought the Montego, and was impressed with how quiet the card was. I 've said it before, and I'll say it again. Forget about Soundblasater products . THESE ARE FOR GAMERS and "musicians" who don't know any better.

Yes, they maybe for gamers, but one thing, have you tried the Soundfonts ? Load some clean samples into
the banks , and output it through the Live!, sorry, sounds pretty damn good to me. PS(use good cables- they do make a difference!)

I don't think so cuase Soundfonts are part of E-mu technology - not on the Turtle Beach cards

U can convert, but then you'll loose the formatting stored in the soundfont. Like looping, lfo, envelope or combinig with other wavs.

I don't know anything about the Montego card BUT own myself a Turtle Beach Tropez. I'm realizing now how BAD the drivers support of Turtle Beach is (e.g. they don't have any drivers for the Tropez card for Windows NT). But maybe they have changed their policy now. Greetings, Baris.

I think that soon egghead will write an editor to enable users to load sounds into thier Montego. Its only a matter of time because the montego sounds are only software. They are not stored on ROM at all- so they would be easy to change with .WAVs or whatever. Well it makes sense to me. The card is very clean though and for about 100 squid you cant complain. Forget Soundblaster- get a montego for digital audio or just go and get a cheap sampler.

Go to prorec.com and read the article "Is it live or is it Sampleblaster" for a good description of capabilities of the SB Live! value card.

For $89 who can complain about these specs?

Bought the Live! card. Works fine. The sound quality is really good. Too bad you must apply the effects to all of the wave output. The effects sound really good to me, I love rebirth with a nice reverb attached. It is a quantum leap from the awe 64 series. And soundfonts work really nice with cakewalk , the kits and sounds that was included beats the hell out of my mc303 sounds, but thats not so strange, ay??

But, you feel some of the aim at the gamers market..
Why don't they release a musicians only drivers package??
