Well hopefully that got your attention... here are my questions:
I need a soundcard that will do the "basics" for me with no major hassles. What I mean is, I need something that can get the sounds in the computer so that I can manipulate them in there. I have a sampler, so I don't really need a card that does that stuff. I am mainly concerned with something with low noise and simple, but still capable of stuff beyond the typical "gamers" card.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since you talked about "free" Yamaha cards, check into
Yamaha Waveforce 192 XG or Waveforce 192 D.
Their website is Yamaha.com
