Hello, does anyone know how to use the LINE IN (as opposed to MIC IN) input on a soundcard to record into PC?... In the multimedia control panel in Win95, the driver shows up under the "Line Input Devices" section, but I can only select "Audio Devices" to record on.
Thanks

The socket? Do you mean the Mic in? It works fine, but I also have a line in, which doesn't work. Someplace I read that the soundcard control panel will liet you switch between the 2, but mine doesn't.
On a similar note (no pun...) is there a reason I cannot hear anything realtime when I'm recording (through MIC IN) but will hear the sound only when I play it back?

I'm not familiar with your particular card but it sounds like the line input is not turned up in the mixer settings for your card. Also, it would be helpful to know what software you are using to record and wether or not the settings in the audio options dialogue are activated there. Also within the audio options dialog in your software there should be a check box marked "enable full duplex settings" or something similar. This should be checked to enable simultaneous record and playback. You'll most likely be better off recording through the line input with some type of outboard mic preamp (eg mixing board) as most soundcard mic preamps suck. Good luck, Karl.
