I have a SQ1 hooked up to cubase and the
thru port is going to a mc-303, when I
send midi messages out of cubase it
sounds both the instruments and for the
life of me I can't figure out how to
make them sound individually. if anyone
can help I would be very gratefull.

cheers.

If memory serves, the SQ1 was a multitimbral synth so, there is probably an option to set MIDI Receive off for each part or track (or whatever Ensoniq called each channel on the SQ1.) As far as the MC-303 - I've no idea but there has to be a similar option?! Otherwise, use the mute button on your MC-303 ;-)

Best guess...regards, jondl

In song/sequence mode each track can be set to local, MIDI, both, or ext. From ther you can specify MIDI track number, etc. However, you must set the SQ itself to MULTI mode. To do this Hit the top left button (Edit/Sounds I think) then the bank button color coordinated to it that says MIDI- 9 then scroll through the menue until it you see
Midi mode=XXXX
Base channel=xx

Make the mode MULTI . I would hook the MC last if it doesn't have a MIDI thru. Assign your channels (make sure the SQ tracks aren't using the MC's MIDI channel).
