Do you get all the cool filters if you upgrade the OS, or do you need to get the Turbo board? How do you upgrade the OS? I've heard about a third party output expansion board. Does anyone know anything about this?

I think you have to upgrade both the OS and get the output expander. Both were available from E-mu but I don't know if they are still available. If I had to hazard a guess - I'd say yes. I've never heard of a 3rd party output expander for the ESI series - doesn't mean one doesn't exist. I couldn't imagine anyone making much of a return on one - just get the E-mu version.

No, the OS is upgradeable with a ROM which you have to replace, and this comes with the Turbo card, but can also be bought separately (if you're lucky you can find it used).

Most music stores should have the rom for sale. Try to mail Emu if that's not the case.
