Hey, how do you get the ESI to play the full sample without holding the key down for the duration of that sample?

There should be a place where you can set the envelope to go through its whole cycle regardless of how long the key is held: these are usually used for setting up drum kits. Don't know for sure on the ESI, but that's the way my old dead EPS worked.

Go to trigger mode for the zone and set it to "gate" (I think). This reduces the envelope to AHR, so just set the hold time to your sample's length. You can do this with the regular envelopes as well, setting the hold time as above.
