I desperately need a librarian or bank
editor for the ESi-32, for the Mac.
Downloading samples to the ESI is easy,
but bank creation/ assembly is a bit
slow.

Please share if you have any info... (or
just want to talk about the ESI with
another mac user).

Haven't heard of a Mac Editor/Librarian for the ESI-32. I know the SysEx implmentation was limited so that precludes an Editor BUT you could probably score an old copy of Opcode Galaxy cheap. I used the Generic Sample Library function to track my old Emax II sample disks. You can assign key names etc. and perform searches. It wasn't too bad but to be honest, I found the effort to set-up my own data base didn't really pay off. Mind you, a REALLY large sample library could be a full time job :-)

I'll look into that Opcode Galaxy. After
more twiddling, I've stream-lined the
process of sumping samples over SCSI a
bit, but if I can't find anything to
help automate this process, I suppose
I'll survive.

Thanks for the respon

I use Peak SE for SMDI dumps to my ASR-X Pro - very reliable. I like the fact that it gives me a 'list edit' view of which sample slots in the ASR-X are occupied or empty. D-SoundPRO is a nice shareware digital audio editor. The SDS implementation worked well with my Emax II but the SMDI has been very unreliable for me. Maybe the ESI-32 would behave better - worth a try. Forgot to mention Galaxy was discontinued last summer (before the Opcode shutdown by Gibson) so you'll have to hunt down a 2nd hand copy if you're interested.

Hi, y'all. I just wanted to wrap up this
discussion I started. I've learned to
quickly dump files over SCSI, and
utilize the ESi-32's keypad to avoid
scrolling through parameters, which has
drastically reduced the amount of time
needed to make a bank.

It took a week, but Emu finally
responded to my email: The ESi-32 does
not respond to SysEx commands, so
dumping banks is impossible. Emu's newer
products do respond to SysEx though.

Overall, I'm thrilled with my ESi-32,
and even though it only has 8MB of RAM
right now, it will proabbaly keep me
happy, and be useful for a few years.

Thanks, everyone, fo
