so I'm thinking of getting one of these cos I need meat&poly and I think they sound awsome, the selection of sounds "synth image" has great induviduality" very kool&hard no wussy tussy sounds and the unit offers great depth but via the tiny lcd, which brings me down to this: isn't it pain in use? and dosn't it take forever to create sounds?? ... any coments pros/cons r happily apreciated...thx

Take forever? Nah, just a lot of left right button pushing. The way the effects is set up is, ahem, counterintuitive. Although the remaining ones are relatively cheap right now, they'll have v1.0 software. Emu will upgrade it, but it's gotta go to the factory to do it. You can have 'em install the XTreme ROM while it's there. The v 2.0 OS was buggy -- dropped notes and stuff. There's now a fix, OS 2.1 I believe but don't crucify me if I'm wrong, available on their web site. In all honesty, though, if I were doing it now I'd look really hard at the XTreme Lead, sort of a second version of the Audity. Cheaper list out of the gate, none of the OS hassles (that I've heard of anyhow) compatible with all the different Proteus ROMs.

thanks for the tip man, I'll look at the XL1, but I dunno if it has the same selection of sounds as the audity, I thought it was a upgraded orbit rather than upgraded audity, one really cool feature is the beat/slice mode so I guesss I gotta give it a look, especially if it lists lower than the audity... a very valid point damballah,
