Hi!

If I play a BD kick on the sampler, and a HH closed on my Drumstation, everything is nice and tight. But if I add a clap, a maracas, the sampler starts to go out of sync. About 2.0 mSec. Enough to screw a complete song up. And the more samples I add the more out of sync it gets.

Why is this!? My OS is 1.04, can it be a bug or something?

I know the problem lies in the sampler, and not the computer or the MIDI interface, or my Drumstation. So what could it be?

Where can get info about the new OS 3.02?

Thanx in advance

Bante

...still the same thing! I have tried to switch the ports on my 2x2 PCI midi card, but the lag is still there. So I am pretty sure it isnt my computer or interface.

Can any 3.02 OS user tell me if there are any lag btw your synths ( especially when using drums ) and with the ESI-32, and using alot of sounds in the sampler?

Regards

Hi, I have an ESi-32 as well, and I've
noticed no lag whatsoever. It is a
polyphonic sampler, and it's designed to
be able to handle this kind of stuff.

However, the problem may be in your MIDI
connection and setup. I used to get lots
of lag, even between a jump from my Mac,
through a synth, to another synth (2
steps!).

I bought a MIDI thru box ($50 CDN) - it
has 1 in and 4 outs. I use 3 foot MIDI
cables, so the path is the shortest
possible, and the same length between
all devices. When I do have to use the
thru on a device (like my Novation
BassStation doesn't like the thru box,
so I have to hook it up via the thru on
my CS2X or MC-303, I dunno why), I use 1
1/2 foot MIDI cables, which aren't easy
to find, but keep a consistant distance
between all things.

Also, it's possible that the DrumStation
is slowing the MIDI data down while
trying to deal with all those MIDI
packets destined for another device.

Let us know when you resolve this, and
how, ok? Sorry if I'm offering useless
advice... I'll check my

After hours of lag hell, I think I have come up with a solution...

First, when the lag is precent:

1. If I use my Pentium 200Mhz MMX, 32 MB ram computer, MIDIDOCK 2x2 midi card, Logic Audio Platinum, there is a lag.

2.If I let all the midi data ( to all my other synths ) go thru the ESI-32, there will be a lag.

Now, the solution.

1. If I use my P2 233 Mhz, 96 MB ram, the same MIDIDOCK 2x2 midicard, Logic Audio Platinum, there is NO lag if.....

2. ....i have the ESI-32 on one midiport, and all the other synths on a second midiport...( solution for the 2. problem above )

So, the real problem here is my computer. Is it to slow? I dont think so, 200 Mhz should be fine...but I might have to little of RAM?

Oki, it WAS the midi card...

I changed my ISA midi card to a USB midi interface, and everything is know completely nice and tight.

Kilo, I can run win98 on the machine with no problem, plus Logic Audio Platinum, only midi, no audio.
