STill the tahiti... i wanna try it with a sb16.... it has to work with that... i'll try to borrow a few.. if it does it all of them, i might think it is the motherboard ... see the graphics card shares the same irq as the pci to isa buss bridge.. (it's one of those m'boards that does not recognise usb and the bridges and has to have drivers installed cos the chipset doesnt recognise.... THAT is most likely the prob... wonder how it'd go with a new p2 BX set.... maybe it's the graphics locking?... wierd how with absolutely NO changes it works for hours one day, then crashes each 10 minutes the next....

I am interested in this problem, because I am having something similar happen in my system. I am using a BX chipset with a TBS Montego ADXStream PCI card. I am working with a 29 audio track piece, and things really blow up when I try adding EQ. I have 128Mb of RAM and a 300 MHz Intel Pentium II processor. I have a 4.3Gb dedicated hard drive.

I have put it down to a lack of system resources, although the Steinberg Performance Monitor hardly flickers during playback. The Windows Resource Monitor shows the CPU between 32% and 66% utilized, but after the GPF the CPU max's out at 100% (constant no matter what happens to the system). Memory is not a problem, with about 24Mb free while the song is running.

If you are talking about the meter delay, there is no problem, Latency is something that just happens with almost any program. It even happens with the 10,000$ Pro-Tools system I use at school. About VST not runnig, you should be a little more specific if you want any help!!!

My problem is definitely something to do with the relationship between Cubase and my hardware. I have found that even if I get up and leave my computer for 10-15 minutes, a GPF will occur in Cubase (generally in the Win95 Kernel32.DLL). That's with nothing happening - just Cubase open with the 29 audio track song in the arrange window.

A couple of nights ago I increased the buffers in the ASIO driver from 5 (default) to 10. This seems to have alleviated the situation somewhat - I can now do more EQ'ing before the program blows up. Of course, my system latency went from 550 msec to 1100 msec.

Thing is Cubase 2.8 for PC is solid as a rock - crashes about once every 6 months. No Audio though, but which is more important - loadsa wobbly new stuff or something you can get creative on for more than 15mins a go? Not had much fun with VST to be honest.

Actually think that I might have licked this thing (but I don't want to start counting my chickens too soon). Applied the v1005 BIOS flash to my Award BIOS (I have an Asus P2B motherboard) *and* updated the Montego drivers with the new ones at Turtle Beach's site. I have managed to keep working for a couple of hours without any trouble.

Not sure which was the offending piece of hardware, but my guess is that it was the Montego card.

yeah... VST seems to hate Turtle Beach cards... mind you, may mate had Gina, and he has to close & re-open VST about 3 times an hour as it looses the audio card....

But, I have Gina, and my system runs great. It never crashes!!! So, it must be something to do with his system setup.
