Should my master mix peak at 0 or higher? I want it hot but not distortion on my stereo????

Any recommendations on using Loundness Maximizer also?

... listen to it and find out the right mix.... :-))

well, in normal case 0dB is the limit for digital
recording purposes.

Why my mix turned out to be distorted when I burned it to CD and listened with audio-CD? It didn't sound distorted at all while listening the master in VST. The Master clipping indicators turn red all the time but the levels are in the edge. Not much more than +/-0... I used Dave Browns ProComp preset "-3db hard limiter" with 2.5db gain. Shouldn't it cut the clipping?

Could the mix really sound so different from Audio CD than from VST master????

Surely if you peak at 0dB you are using the full 16bits. Any more than 0dB and you get digital clipping which is shown by the "leds" in the master section. That's the way I understand it, anyways.

True but , I know what he is talking about. YOu can raise the master a little over 0 maybe +2 or 3 and it shouldnt clip. I noticed the same thing.

0 is NOT desirable..... it's about -12...as the general level...
