Just got one, it's excellent! Sounds very analog but "harder", can also do FM, complements almost everything, I have owned and used lots of choice gear over the years and I would have to say this is one of my alltime faves. Highly recommended esp. now price has dropped.

How's it work as an external signal processor? I was thinking about one for processing guitars live... I know and love the Nord filters, but how's the flanging, phasing, chorus, etc? How many of these modules can I realistically expect to pack into a patch on a micro?

You can find the DSP usage for all modules on Clavia's site. You should be able to get a usable amount of FX into a MM, chorus is the heaviest one with 8.4% DSP usage. I recommend it for FX use: you can really fuck up sounds with it. A friend uses it almost exclusively for processing vocals, as well as doing synth sounds.

So I could reasonably expect to get a fair amount of processing for say, guitars and still get a voice of modular if I needed it? It's got 2 ins for audio, right?

Yeah, just looking at getting one,how does it run on a pc with vst?
Do you need to create sounds etc before running it with a sequencer?
Is it possible to hook it up to my external mixer so i can use it to effect all my music? You know, use it like a reverb box,but get all these cool fx instead.

Cheers Guruzoo.

You could easily create a nice multi-fx patch, using say chorus, phaser, env follower and filter and still have enough dsp power for a monosynth. Obviously each should have its own output. This little box constantly amazes me, very useful in the studio and live.
The editor runs fine alongside VST if you want it to, but it is not necessary to do so.
Also I have a patch on mine that is like a "Finalizer" type of thing that I use to process whole mixes, it consists of EQs, filters and compressors and it really makes a mix sound proffessional.

Sounds good. I'm interested in it mostly as a processor, but would like to have maximum versatility, y'know? Thanks for the info.

I must admit I initially bought mine just to use as an FX box and percussion synth, (I have lots of other analog stuff for basses etc) but now I use it for loads of stuff including: Bass, Pads, Leads, FM, Weird SFX, Vocoder, Digitizer (excellent to make say a Boss DR660 sound like an old 8 bit Drum Machine) and to be honest I wish I had 3 or 4! I have downloaded literally thousands of sounds for it, the user support is excellent, and it's so easy to create your own sounds on it. Also the build quality is excellent - very solid construction, same tank-like durability as a Boss pedal. Gigability factor 10!

oldskool, out of interest just curious as to which patch you are using as your Finalizer type thing? couldn't agree more with your comments by the way, i have a modular and for 18 months it has been the centre of my studio.

I got it from clavia's site, it's just called "audio in mastering patch". Its great on Techno\Dance music.
