can someone explain me how to play synth strings on a sequencer.. i've got for example a wicked sound from my synth but can't understand how to place it on a 4/4 beat, always sound boring anywhere i try it..

depends on the attack & decay time of the strings, strings sample type, sound selected... certain riffs can and cant be done according to how that is set, if attack is even a little gradual then any stabbing riffs are out or loose impact at least,... but generally, the faster the attack & decay the more closely spaced notes can be in a pattern... slower attack times tend to steer you to pads, backing melodies, highliting etc... there is just so many possibilities only your imagination can hold you back... try putting a sweep filter string chord pad thru a gate being triggered by a hi-hat pattern... whatever...
