I get the following familiar error page when I try to use the drop-down... this started happening right after you changed your website addy..

The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please try the following:

Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
If your Network Administrator has enabled it, Microsoft Windows can examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings.
If you would like Windows to try and discover them,
click Detect Network Settings
Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have installed.
If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0.
Click the Back button to try another link.

On my MAC G4 450 I get some bullshit about incorrect
identifier or something.I'm the only person in my town
w/ a Mac so tech support is out of the question so I
guess Ill go to macfixit site w/ a desription of
problem(I can create a topic there) and maybe somebody
there can tell me what info i need to provide I'll try
to get it done some time this week!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok... here's what I'm seeing...

I am at the home page. I click on the forum box down arrow, and the drop down box appears....

I move my mouse over the selections, until "Music & Tech" is highlighted. I click once on that selection, and it tries to go somewhere... and I then receive the error page.

I get to the drum forum page by using the link lower in the page....

I also noticed that when I get to the drum forum page, and I highlight & click on any selection in the forum drop-down box, it does not automatically try to jump, like it did on the home/intro page. Instead, it just fills in the drop down box with my selection, and so I use the arrow button to the right of the box to try to jump... but I still get the error page anyway.....

the sad fact is, macs are bollox for the internet.. ever single project ive ever worked on that involved mac's was a disaster, and macromedia products too, they are the bane of my fucking life, especially that dreamweaver, and some other bollox called Fireworks by who i dont know... anyways, the tofffee they churn out defies belief. macs + web = graphics image based stuff, nothing ever to do with data, portability, browser freindlyness etc etc.. one project wouldnt even run on mac/netscape 4.6 and it is always endless problems with browser compatibility, filetypes etc etc.., anyways, when i see mac on a project, i know 100% sure the person is REALLY, originaly a graphic designer tendering for web work utilising automated editors, ... and i run for the hills... :-)

Hey! I don't do it anymore, but when I was I was hand-coding stuff in bbedit and using photoshop to do the gifs and jpegs. And we'd set up indexing and database searches on a IIci. Then we ported everything over to NT4 and IIS (some consultant convince the boss, we were pushing for bsd and apache) and had to spend an ungodly amount of time fixing it. It's people with zero graphic design experience and FrontPage that should make you run for the hills.

I do video production and the only affordable way to do
pro 16:9(widescreen) productions is a G4 and Final Cut
Pro.Since apple makes the machine and the software when
I'm on a deadline and have a problem I only have to
call 1 number.Plus it's lossless from the camera to the
mac through firewire.Adobe editor just can't stabd up
to FCP.I deal with NTSC and PAL clients too.Maybe if I
can stop spending $3k for every new piece of vid gear I
need I'll get a PC to surf w/ but I'm getting a boat
that I have to rig w/ gimbalized camera support and
were talking $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

By the way I use dialup and I was wondering on your G4 450 do you use any media software like Media Cleaner Pro 4,FCP,Quicktime Pro,Commotion DV,And Sorrenson Broadcaster? The only Audio software I have on my machine Is TC Works Spark 1.5 and TC works Native reverb.I tried Cubase but didn't like the latency while recording so I'm thinking of getting the new Tascam 788 but can't find info on the Tascam site about the sample rate.my Sony pro camera only supports 48khz audio I don't want to have to Use SRC unless I have too.But that's just more rendering for my mac.I'm also using the Delta dio 2496 card to input via spdif from my finalizer 96k.I was hoping to sell the finalizer because the TC software achieves the same quality results.thanks.

sure mac's have uses, my bro uses lots of mac's and does top catalogs etc for named big clients... but in the web design bus, if youve been around it for like 6 or more years you will know just how big is the flood of these graphics people doing a bluff... they are everywhere. and theiir whole emphasis is arty farty.

Like I said for my apps there is no substitute.I use all hardware for music except for my TC audio editor and TC plug ins only. Not a web designer more flow in Pro DVCAM production and it's still a floodgate business.$750 a day plus expenses(rentals, transportation, and media)and I'm just starting editing fetches $85 an hr w/ a 6 hr. minimum.Very easy to learn if your arty farty.Ok some people have a hard time w/ it but in truth once you put out 1 or 2 good projects people start knocking your doors down.Plus pretty soon I'll have a union card and then it's all scale baby!I plan on hiring a grip soon and then w/ a 2 man EFP team you can fetch about $1400 a shoot.Warning very expensive business to get into and requires constant upgrades.I have my own E-zine coming out soon I'm in the process of negotiating a distribution contract.
