i had sampled a not-bad hip-hop type break, the bd was a bit naff but the snare was nice.....i used this setting in wavelab, applied it, listened to it (still running through the compressor), applied it again, listened to it, etc. i think i applied the compression setting 5 - yes, 5 - times!!!!! ok, you get a fair bit of grunge between the drum hits, but f*ck me!!!! it started off sounding like pots and pans and ended up like a fucking h-bomb!!! nice. i suppose it's the same with any compressor, but i do love the sound of this one.....if you're worried about the grunge, try mega-clean beats, this one was off vinyl. anyway, bollocks to it - have some philthy phucked up phatness in your life!!!!! love, peace and nasty beats.....maff.
p.s. some lo-fi crunch courtesy of the MDA (no i don't work for them) DEGRADE plug-in is also shit-hot for having some variations of the break, eg, for triggering at the end of every 8 or 16 bars, etc.
