I've had an MC-303 for a while now, but now I want to complement it with an anologue 303 clone - one that really screams! I can only stretch to £200, so I'm considering the FAT Freebass, or the Deep Bass 9. Can anyone recommend me either machine - how do they match up to the TB? What are they like for midi? Would I be better off getting a second hand Bass Station?

i'd check out the MAM MB33 - it's pretty darn cheap, and supposedly sounds a lot like a 303. if you want something more original, maybe you could find a second hand waldorf, or bass station.
cheers

Get RB-338 v.20 and an MCR-8. For more information, go to http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Museum/3068/mcr-8.htm

I would say get something you can do a lot more with than just a 303 clone, I have a bass station and a freebass and the bass station gets used a lot more.

Woh...if you want just a TB-303 emulator, get RB-338 v.20 and a Roland MCR-8...if you want something more preffesional that will do a lot more, get a Korg Z1. I tried this baby out 2 days ago and it blew my freaking mind!!!!!

Yeah rebirth is pretty cool, sounds kinda like a 303, but if you want a clone you can take anywhere,
has a cool built in sequencer, can exactly reproduce the sounds of the original Tb303 plus a hole lot more. Check out the 777 by FutureRetro at: http://www.angelfire.com/biz2/FutureRetro
Shipping begins in about two weeks, and the waiting list is rapidly growing.
