Well, if you want a limited all in one piece of shit sounding box, get the MC-505. The only thing I can see that it's good for is for percussion...but why spend all that money for a drum machine...just get the MC-303 for a beat box. (this is all considering that you have a low budjet...if you've got massive bread, buy a real 909 and pipe it thru some effects...if you want more breakbeatish stuff, get a sampler).

As for lead synth sounds, I haven't heard many good things about the MC-505. It's all sampled based bullshit, and the filters are very weak and cheesy. If you can get a mint condition Juno-106, that would be good.....Roland JP-8000 is ok and the Clavia Nord Lead II is amazing, but very expensive. If you want "super strong sounds", you can't go wrong with a Korg synth based on MOSS (Z1 or Prophecy)...but then again, it all depends on your needs....

Idealy, I would get a Korg Z1, a TR-909, and a sampling workstation. If you've got a small budjet, get Rebirth for your drummachine and 303 and a MIDI controller to control it all, and a Prophecy or Nordlead I if you can find one....if you have to buy somethig new, JP-8000 is lowest in price, but due to the discontinuation of the Z1, I think it's even cheaper now.
