If I already have a Korg Prophecy, is it worth getting a Roland SH-101? I can get one for around $200.00 US, but the range knob doesn't work, no power supply, nor mod grip.

Any advice? Does anyone own both synths?

i swaped a prophecy for an sh-101
realy!!!
the sh-101 kicks ass.
it has no menus and sub menus and sub sub menus, just sliders.
i play it thru a boss se-70 fx unit.
it has no midi so i control it from a syntecno teebee.
it does a pretty good impression of a 303 too.

Pedicelli, I saw the same ad. Do it man! You won't be sorry. You seem really like a komputer guy, so I'm not sure if you'll like the primitive sequencer. But after you get it, it will change your whole perception of analogue. The SH-101 makes bass that will make your nuts split in half! So If you do make the wise choice and do purchase it, don't say that I didn't tell you so. Go get a money order for the SH-101 and a jock strap with a cup.....
your gonna need it.

Well, this would be my first analog piece of gear....it's just that I think my Prophecy can do just about everything that the 101 can do (except for maybe emulate those bitch ass powerful filters...I think, Prophecy is pretty good for that too...)

What I like about the 101 is it's simplicity..everything's in front of you....Prophecy is more complicated, but that's no biggy for me, I have nothing against doing a little work...

I dunno...I'm having second thoughts......would it just be another monosynth for me? Any of your Prophecy users can compare it further to the 101?

I have both and just love the simplicity of the 101.
Besides, even if you don't like it, you'll always be able to sell it again.
