I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!

well. it sounds hard, thats for sure. Hehe..I think you should listen to "subterranean"...my track. our bass sounds similiar. yours is harder tho...
Message 9/38 11-Jun-01 @ 01:13 AM - RE: Break stuff...
I feel much better...
The drum roll is not real drummer... I took influx's advice and put some ghost snares... And i compressed the drums with a thinner (not big) kick drum, ad then i put a seperate big kind of 808 drum sound on a seperate channel...
I love the subterranean... the remix....
Now if I can only finish the track...
Have any ideas???

first you could just loop that. say 16 bars. make sure thats interesting and has enough going on to be solid but not so much that its "busy". People dont like busy usually (believe me. I get that a lot)
then...heres what i do. just repeat that...for say 3 minutes. and start punching stuff in and out. when you find something you like, mute or delete the parts that dont belong in that specific section of the song. From there you just need good changes, fills, etc. breakdowns work well...maybe a new bass, flyin solo with just the kick and a vocal..that sort of thing.
I mean..serious..to go from 20 seconds to at least 3 minutes is NO PROB!!! after that it gets a little sketchy, but

Message 15/38 12-Jun-01 @ 03:50 AM - RE: Break stuff...
See.. when i get bored i go around and collect drum and other kind of samples, chop them, comp them... whatever. and i live them on my harddrive for future use...
Sorry...no synth programing...
Message 16/38 12-Jun-01 @ 03:57 AM - RE: Break stuff...
naught wrong with usin a sampler though..and actually...there ARE "synth skills" in there. You used distortion, a notch filter, etc and layered it as well. not really much different than you would do with any other "synth"
Message 17/38 12-Jun-01 @ 07:28 AM - RE: Break stuff...
My roland jx3p is not with me now...
The whole track is done on reason.. I used midi keyboard controller and a peavey pc1600 controller...
I have an es1 too but never use it... I want a a4000 or s5000 or a new emu.... but got no money.. so i got reason.. i really like it... but if i had choice it would be a4000 and waldorf pulse... ( i might get them next year....)
I just started spending time with reasons synth...
It is pretty cool, can tweak it so many ways.. it confuses me...

Message 34/38 19-Jun-01 @ 03:49 AM - RE: Break stuff...
That what sucks about groovetech, I really dont want to watch them spin, i would rather have only higher quality audio then videofeed...
Are you saying you cant find his dj sets on groovetech?
if you cant, go to broadcast archives then sellect beats and breaks and search under new skool breaks sub-genre I am listening to it as i am writing this... its good to have DSL...
This is exactly what I like, but i dont know 80% of the stuff he played... You like what I exactly like influx...
