Nice name for a track :P Check it out please. My first DnB. I tried to do one about a year ago...went the way of the recycle bin. I have to thank Influx, Infrasound, and Nobody (may humanity rest in peace) for influencing me to like this stuff. Or maybe I should shoot them.

nice track, sitar..well done. Interesting drums...I think the track really gets exciting at around 2:10 with that phased stab and pad...all in all, excellent job, especially seeing as this particular type of tune (dnb) seems to be a departure from your usual style (well, at least judging by the other tunes in your track list)...nice- keep it up man! cheers....

Agog, thanks. I checked Drum 'n' Bass and Techno as genres in my profile. One morning I woke up and realized that the genres are supposed to indicate what one writes, not just what one likes to listen to. Why does life have to be so complicated? So on the one hand it's a departure, on the other it's what I'm supposed to be doing. Nice I'm finally getting around to it. So thanks. I'll try to keep it up.

well..I cant stream but I downloaded it.

listening right now. good sound quality, man...cept the blippy kick that comes in sounds a little loud and I cant hear whats in the background

kick is a little busy (hehe and your damn bassline sounds like my "your love" mix"

) just kiddin

well...as for the main bassline...if you wanted this to really move it might be good to have a little more active B-line, and have the main drums a little more sparse. Rattling snares is one thing, but kicks that do too much at that tempo sound busy

breakdown right now...comin back in...damn at first I thought I was listening to Rob Playford's "The Shadow" (AWESOME track by the way you should check it out...I like the Process Mix best)

well...basically..it just doesnt seem to GO...not that its horribly redundant but it seems to stay sorta stagnant. Neat sounds, although the main Bline could be made a LOT harder...

even layering it...doing one version highpassed real squelchy and distorted, and then a sub underneath...(or did you do that already?

)

good mix though and not bad for a "first attempt" (like Im some sort of DnB expert!)

Sitar - you know, I like to bellydance..with or without the finger cymbals. Your tune made me do just that - and the breaks are cool as they allowed me to take a breather (it is indeed a very physically challenging dance

.. DnB has always been the rhythmic revitalization of Arabic/Mediterranean grooves and any electronic noise addition is the outfit of the mood it sets. I like your personal approach to combining the old with the new-very brave and with nice overall results! Technically speaking, any details are unecessary! And, yes, there should be a new category called "Sitar Flava"...hehe!
Also, for some reason I hear your music behind action scenes...hmmm!

Thanks for listening gents. I'm gonna try the highpass layering Influx. The kick I'm not sure about. Good ideas. I recorded all the drums into one channel of audio from midi for the sake of expediency and couldn't then treat the kick properly in the mix. The low frequencies are all off there. The piece is actually a couple minutes longer. The interlude is more played out with some drums coming in. Well thanks. It's a start I think and I feel good about it.

Maybe I should mix at bellydancing clubs. Obvious perks there

your style. you have a "sound" of your own (well, as much as that is possible in an environment oversaturated with "artists") which is impressive. You dont sound like youre emulating anyone (hehe 'cept orbital) which is commendable

Didn't take it like that Influx. Your suggestions are goodies and appreciated. I'm happy that I'm starting to do tracks after learning what I could in 2 years but have lots more to learn. Was just now reading through some of the DT Tips and Tricks. Nice when it's slow at work

I forgot to mention that at some point I was afraid that after listening to your tracks several times, I inadvertantly started this piece with a part of one of your basslines that might've been going through my head somewhere. Didn't think so but I should have thrown your cd in to listen.

I don't sound like I'm emulating anyone. Blame it on ignorance.

haha..yeah..the background synth in RTFM sounds a little like the bass I did for roller8

Yea your drums are killer. Class? I'll have to remember to zip up my fly, tuck in my shirt, shave, try not to drool, and wear matching socks when I go out into public if I want to live up to that image.

Sounds kinda angry. I really like the drum sounds you chose. You do actually have lots of room for a sub bass. That could become the consistent groove whilst you tweak the life right out fo the existing Bline... but what do I know? Very cool track!

I'm angry that I have to try to write drum n bass tunes. That's what the song's about. Well it sounds like more bass is needed and maybe less on the kick. Actually I'm thinking of going crazy with the kick though.

sitar...not that what other people do has anything to do with it except that..well..DnB has been around long enough, and Ive personally heard enough to know what works well, and its usually a little more sparse in the kick section

well, unless youre goin for the squarepusher/aphex twin type shit, but THEN youd be better off using a more poppy, less bass kick

not sayin youd want to do the ol 2 step thing, but dunno...goin too nuts with the kick can detract rather than add

as for angry..well...when you start to sound like me then youll sound angry. or at least BE angry and maybe sound a little miffed

I'm back.. Docs cut me open under local, couldn't find the glass visually, brought in an x-ray camera, found the bugger but still couldn't get to it.. "Too deep" and "Close to the bone".. sewed me back up, now I have a shit-painful left hand (again) and enough pain killers to knock out a horse!!!

Funny, had a dream about giggin' last night - we didn't do very well tho'.. think its a sign!!

Still waiting for the artwork (*cough cough* - as the designer is sitting right next to me!) before it goes to the duplicators...
