i´m wondering if i can use a normal external zip drive with esi sampler, or does it have to be the scsi one? one has 25 pins, the other 50 pins, but there is an adapter for that.
other than that, would it work?

thanx, M.

The interface on the back of your sampler is a SCSI one. There are several different SCSI connectors as technology has advanced but adapters work fine. But it still has to be a SCSI peripheral.

I know the Ultra samplers take IDE drives internally now but I'm pretty sure that the external connector on those and your sampler are all still SCSI only.

ow shucks if it has to be scsi, since i could have access to the zip w. printer port (is that eide ?)interface for free. guess i´ll still have to save up for a scsi sontroller for pc...damn these things are expensive.

dude.

is your zip scsi? if so it will work. if not? it wont work

is it a "parallel" zip? then that is NOT scsi

sorry to disappoint

but also..a scsi card for your PC...say an adaptec 2940 which a year ago was respectable, can be had for uh hell..uh..40?

doesnt fall under expensive in my book

I have a zip 100 scsi that I can sell you for say $50 too if youre interested, or a zip 250 for say $100

yes, a parallel port one, so its not scsi

hey influx, you gave me an idea: get a used scsi zip.

if i was in the states i´d take that one off of you easy. thx for the offer.

btw, how are the loading times when reading banks from a scsi zip? usually my projects need no more that, lets say 10Mb, is it manageable? when loading anything more that 2 floppies i usually forget what was it that i wanted to do before its finished...
