I listened to the first two tracks, I really like them. Really kinda happy drone thing going on there. The streaming really didnt do them justice but they still sounded decent, what encoder did u use? do you have a page up with links to the real tracks? You can check out some of my old tracks at my mp3.com page but Ill be putting my own server up hopefully soon cuz Im fed up with them

heh...anyone can take a break and throw on a few fx...not impressed. i think im gonna OD on shite sooner ot later, so come clean- try to sit there and tell me that break is authentic- or at least to a certain extent..im referring to celtic no more...ive heard that break one too many times, and youre slightly modified rendition is nothing special. dont listen to me though, im truly talking out of my arse..sorry.

disregard my post if you created that break through your own doing- programming the hits..but if its just a prefabricated loop, its pretty nauseating.

I listened to the celtic one. Im not gonna rip you a new asshole about the loop (RELAX about that one...homegirl is using computer programs )

but...it doesnt stand out really. you need to spend more time developing a style that will distinguish you (at least partially) from the rest

i don't even have to listen to it to disagree with you there, influx.. why stand out? remember on acid everything is ffrreesshh. it's just a feeling you know (or something.)

mellow stuff. why do you need feedback? where do you want to go that you don't think you can find one step at a time on your own? if you're looking to expand your artistry i say make songs you don't like to more dispassionately observe your technique (and where it doesn't go.)

true that beat was a saple but not from a sample disk

i got it from some celtic track, hence the title, celtic no more

stocking shelves wasn't really finished when it ended, like i said my bro shut it down before i had a chance to finish, hey i work full time....

and it's raining i think is pretty good

i'm gonna put a few more tracks up tonight, one of them i did last night and the other two a few months ago, two of them are pretty different and the other is, not so much

so you wrote a track last night?

I think you just proved my point about spending a little more time on this.

why?.. some of my best tracks took a day or a night - if you work in a studio you HAVE to do a track in a day, the client demands it. going into a track and analysing it to bits doesnt necessarily make a good track. Like writing songs on a guitar, often the best songs come out all at one and are written in half an hour & finished.

yes. on a guitar.

dunno. I dont agree but..

my point was this stuff sorta sounds unfinished. some people do stuff that fast and its DONE...

so i put another three tracks up

i personally think they're better than all the ones i put up yesterday

these tracks, unlike two of yesterdays contain NO samples, everything on there i have composed, programmed, etc.
though i don't think it really makes a difference, what's good is good
a lot of people seem to

oh and about that comment about writing music too quickly, ok i'll admit i'm a little compulsive at times but like i said most of that is because i do everything on shareware and demos
but is very possable and for me probable that good music can be made in one day, with or without a guitar
it doesn't matter how long it takes, it's how much you focus when you're taking it.....you know what i mean?

anyway hope you like the new shit better....

and for everyone who liked the old shit respect

for the record i use cool edit as my encoder

peace

all I meant was..if you can bang something out in a day and its clearly YOURS. your style. some signature sound, good for you.

I never said that picking a song apart is a good idea. it can be fun but at some point it becomes self-indulgent masturbation. One can lose the initial feel of a track very easily as well

but if youre crankin "songs" out every day, and they all sound vanilla, whats the point?

oh..and jilly. I hope youre a girl. if youre not Im sorry cuz I called you one.

Well, I did you a very few tracks in a day's time... in fact '900 Miles To Tomorrow' took me about 6 hours straight but I consider those times to be rare blessings.

jilly, I only listened to the Celtic No More track and I did find it lacking a bit in the character dept. Maybe just work on hook a bit more. I put a lot of weight on melody but you can take that with a grain of salt because not everyone agrees that melody is essential like I do...

Don't be discouraged, obviously a beginner are you with little gearwise or experience having. The journey is a long one with many lessons to learn. Keep striving to improve the skills of you. If we were you (which we are not) we would be careful about overselling ourselves as "talented producers." Humans can see through that sellspeak, one who calls self jilly. One day you may be that and won't be having to "bullshit" others. Let your skills do your talking.

Farewell.

points made and understood....

but i still stand by my songs

the only one that i think is not too good is "Stocking Shelves," and I guess "My Girlfriend's Eyes" could be a bit better, but that's only because I couldn't slowly bring in the volume on the pad and that it had to be done with volume differences on different channels in tracker

but i think "ALF" and "Pointless Relationships" are good songs, and I would like them whether I had written them or not

but nonoe the less I appreciate all feedback given

just to say it.. listened to 3 new tracks of yours a week ago? what i heard was craftsmanship.. something that you wished to communicate. direction and intent.. nice to hear. i forgot i was listening to one track (big pad at end?) which is one of my more meaningful compliments.
