as we said, 'quality' has NOTHINg to do with bandwidth - it's discernable no matter how low the bandwidth. I'm saying nothing obviously cos it's in the contest.

what do you think of it/them?

EErr oops! Sorry! I mean the Bandwith.

Of course Low bandwith = Low quality, but quality in the sound, I don't mean quality in the music production, sorry about that, the other guys in the contest just have a great music. with so much quality but very poor bandwith.

Then I'll change my word...

"I really miss a bigger bandwith on the uploads but....thats the world."

Anyway I'm setting up a mp3.com page, I'm just waiting for the approval so anybody can hear my tracks for the contest in 128kbps.

A little quote....

"what do you think of it/them?"

Do U mean what I think about the contest or the bandwith issue?

I think the contest is great man, just a little longer but I saw that discussion on the "tracks contest FAQ" anyway, I think this is a good opportunity to show our work and see what we are doing across the world.

Regards.

I just think they are great, of course I have some bad music and some good songs, we compose lots of crappy tunes to get one really good song, but what's this guys? Of course I think my tracks are great, they are in the competition right?

Just nevermind OK?

I'm talking about the small size of the files, The sound will suffer so much when encoding at 32 or 48kbps, mainly the higher frequencies.

Don't missunderstand me guys, I don't speak english, I'm trying to explain this the best way I can.

Regards.

what do you think of damballah?

i got nothing to say about your tracks.. they're not bad! thanks for sharing. nice to hear you! seemed fairly cohesive/well mixed (heh) and okay didn't listen to all of them but no stunning pinnacles - fair enough, how often does that happen anyway. your tracks kinda went from here to here and i might have been high anyway.

i like the bandwidth. i'm having all my equipment converted to it

your blue parts remind me of one of those penguins.

yes, but in a club no-ones into the top frequences anyways. I wish more tracks would be entered tho, at this rate they'll be no contest at all.

I have to write a damned wedding song (for my big day) in less than a month. It's been a good minute since I've tried writing a love song... needless to say I will NOT be entering it in any contests here. Perhaps next month, tho

when i was a kid, i used to have this strange visualisation of my wedding day.. wearing medieval plate armor and there are these giant poles with huge metal 'bells' that slide down them.. sorta like that whole d+b 'swimming in detuned bass while hihats echo from a distant chamber' physical space thing.. course i'd never want to subject my ears to anythnig like that now..

good luck finding a space to write that from!

matias, i just listened to your tracks. they are quite ok, but as someone said, they dont do much. not much progression in them. they could pass as dj-tools.

ah, i just realised you also did this jazzy tune, thats wicked!like it a lot. the skippy breaks fit the tune perfectly. i´d like to hear more stuff like this.

now will someone listen to my 1.5 tunes, i posted days ago and still havent had a single comment. please.

yeah except one thing spyro - we are NOT judging this on sound-quality, (for the millionth time) - so it makes no difference.

By the way _ I even went to your site, but i saw nothing except you are trying to force me to load & wait thru a tedious flash intro with no option to bypass - so like 99% of people will do, i closed the browser and forget all about you....

please spyro - dont you want people to listen to your tunes?... yes??... so why setup everything so you have the least chance of anyone actualy listening !!!!!

I'm NOT going to sit thru some flash crap, NO NOT EVEN ON BROADBAND, which I have no idea how long it's going to take before I can get to some actual content - all i want to do is LISTEN TO THE FUCKING TUNE!

that's how it comes over mate - it's like you telling me "You cant hear without listening in the way I want you to listen" - "you aren't capable to know your own mind, and dont have the ability to make a judgment without hearing something in the best ideal circumstances" - That is how your attitude comes over to me... like you are telling me i dont have any ability to make a judgement, like I cant hear what I like.

I just DO NOT understand people who think like you..... you ask for someone to listen, then you say:

"no wait.. hold on... now wait... hold on.. oh I just have to... now I need to just... hold on...wait a bit more... now I'm just going to... one more minute please... hold on..."

by then everyone's got bored and pissed off down the pub...

really spyro - take it or leave it but i'm giving you some GOOD advice here, Dancetech isn't just about tech advice, it's all advice for newbies... experienced advice..... you will fail miserably in the business like this... people do NOT have the time to waste on stuff like that, they will LEAVE your page mate trust me... In companies too they will see you as a poseur who takes themselves too seriously and as someone who is doubting the companies ability to make a descision on your material.....

when the door opens, you strike... you dont fuck about & miss the opportunity. Every one of your dance big-name hero's started out making lo-fi bad quality stuff on cheap 'crappy' gear - how come they are now huge sellers I wonder?.. because they just did it mate - they didnt sit around telling people "you cant listen to this because you can't make a descision listening like this" - THAT attitude is pure arrogance man and will get you absolutely no-where.

Do you think someone like say Heartless crew started out with a real pro flash website like they have now?.. nope.. they probably started out playing ruff home made cassettes or pa at parties & gigs and doing live voice overs on top. Now they are almost impossible to book live they are so in demand & they dont even release tunes!!!... go figure mate...

I'll tell you one bit of GOLDEN ADVICE in this industry spyro - NEVER EVER EVER play down your material... no matter WHAT the situation, it is ALWAYS good enuff to listen to.

The soon as you start to qualify it, and setup criteria under which you yourself are playing the material down yourself because of circumstance then you are showing weakness & lack of confidence
n

Now trust me.. that is valuable real advice that'll be worth taking heed of mate. If you just get on and do it, let people listen, and actualy do it, thing will happen... if you instead sit around endlessly remixing, and hiding the material & stopping it from being heard and complaining about the situation in which it is being shown/heard and showing weakness, nothing will happen.

Take it or leave it, but thats the best advice I can give anyone in this biz...

Pele, the greatest footballer ever, got signed to his first club playing with no boots in the street as a kid... get it!?...

Sorry k, but if you read my profile I said that I'm setting up an mp3.com page to listen to my tunes, I'm curretly waiting for the approval from them, this URL is to see other things, my BIO and some songs/stuff in the d/l section, take your time dude, if you're on a paleolitical slow modem bad luck coz my page is 1mb size but it worth the size.

Anyway! if you want to bypass the site and go to the d/l section directly go ahead!

http://orbita.starmedia.com/spyromusic/down

You will find some interesting stuff there, songs, Reaktor Ensembles and sounfonts mad by me, check out "Virtual Trip" ensemble.

In the other hand my position about the size of the tracks here is ONLY to make the things better for all ppl and the contest.

anyone interested in my take on it??

the hi-res files are great for experiencing the music.. i'm implying that music is.. imagine it as a tonic.. can have great healing force, carry knowledge, et c.. you know.. the difference that music makes in our life..

..which might be a hard concept to associate with a 'dance' tune, but this is how i'm playing it..

..now if you listen to todd rundgren's "born to synthesize," you can pretty much bet that if all things are merely made from plusses and minuses he holds in his hands and he concerns himself with the motion of spheres and obelisks, he's probably experienced enough that he doesn't need to see the obelisk to know where it is, because coordinates are a more condensed way of handling the same information..

...now at 31, i can get bored of music.. to me, it's an application. a way to affect others. sure, i can still experience and enjoy listening, but i sure as hell can't get into the space where the sounds are so remotely beyond my ken that my soul is completely under it's control..because i am the controller.. bleeps, bloops? got 'em.. done 'em.. spent 5 years in a bathtub with a wah pedal and a 20 watt peavey bass amp..

...when an experienced author reads a book, their experience is vastly different from a person who has never considered literary technique.. the movement of allusion or whatever structures..

it's something that shouldn't be said.. because just about every young musician has something in their music they want to have heard.. and it's a tough thing to be told, but..

..at least where my experience is leading, i suspect it may be generally true to say, but i don't need to EXPERIENCE the music to see what's happening.

sounds wrong, doesn't it..

what's this? a panning crow sound? aah.. i can't hear all the frequencies, so it doesn't pierce me with the realism of crows, but here in my alchemist's case i have essence of crow sealed away.. (liked that part, but bit too loud for my ears   just using a couple of bird samples in ogb track 'hooked on kronik..'

play all files, lo fi play (dial-up)

generación mp3 - thinking this is just as happening as dance tracks i heard on british radio last may. long break @ 4 mins - expected something big there, but you outro'ed it..

junglist - you mellow.. like the lead + the analog sounds..

preludio - appreciated (check 'chablis')

lost feed 1/2way thru good vibes.. all the tracks have a similar vibe in them, like your style is 'gelling.' heard someone say once that once your tracks all sort of have the same vibe or sound that it's ready.. dunno if that's true but it sounds like you're on top of a pleasant full-length disc. at least for listening, there's a good sense of chill flow.

Jeez, what's that killer tomato on about? Funny how someone will show up out of nowhere and is totally clueless.

Anyway, Generacion, nice track. Well done. I like things a little less light, but this is good. Thanks for sharing.
