Is there anyone here who's not making trancemusic with their Supernova/Nova?

Im just curious. Every other post I read here is from someone into trance...

And also, when I dump my sounds to a midi-file and load new banks... when I want to restore my dump only about half of them shows up. No matter how slow the tempo is when Im playing/recording the midifile. Anyone who has this problem?

Daniel,

What are you using to receive and dump sounds and what Midi Interface are you using. PC or Mac?

The SN manual is right about some sequencer programs and particularly some midi interfaces not coping well with large SysEx messages.

Trance? What is Trance? :-)

Regards

M

I'm not doing trance either. I should have a DnB up soon. OS 4 blew it all open too.

Daniel, I'm not in trance/dance. I play prog rock, and some 70's and 80's if you want to exchange patches. Although I ain't have anything good enough to be exchangeable, I believe. ;^)

Mostly, I do love ballads and SN is my best tool
to create nice atmosphere in ballads. I do a bit
dance with just a trace on typical trance beat.

Try to listen 'Sail On a Dream' (very ambient ballad) and 'Edge Of Nowhere' from here.

Cheers...

I use my Nova for Industrial/EBM-stuff. I really love it! I've used it alot on the songs "Velvet", "Anticlimax" and "Make me whole" on our webpage. check it out if you want to..

I dabble in trance, but mostly do trip-hop, hip-hop, and ambient music. Right now I'm working on a wedding song and making full use of pads and bubblies from the Nova. It's quite versatile.

How the hell did you get in here Influx? :P The Supernova is good for lots of things. It's funny about trance. I've bought several trance cds including some Webster Hall stuff cuz that place is a few subway stops away from me. They wouldn't let me in there once because I had a baseball cap on backwards??? Anyway, I usually like the way trance sounds for the first 2 minutes of the first track on a cd. After that it sounds like the same thing going on and on. The intros in trance are often interesting but then they loose the plot IMO. The Supernova is great for lots of things. My only struggle with it is comes when I don't want a big analog sound, which makes sense being it's probably the most analog sounding VA available.

And Influx, how come your 4 on the floor keeps getting all broken up like that? Needle skipping on your vinyl?

what, Im not allowed? I now own a novation so I can come here, no? Ill stop when I sell it

and yeah, I have this odd problem with my beats skippin around sometimes.

I heard a PVD track the other night..I think it would be called trance..and it was nice ear candy. I kinda liked it but I suspect that it was rather formulaic.

they wouldnt let you in cuz of your HAT? awww cripes

Would be a nice keeper, but you know what gear you need. How do you like it? I assume you're playing with it a bit.

oh yeah. definitely

Im jealous..or..my virus is...the damn nova has effects for EVERY part!!!! stinkin virus has ONE delay and 4 choruses. doesnt even have a seperate dist section, just on the filter. I would be ecstatic if the virus had as extensive an fx section as the nova!

Ill play it and sample the hell out of it but its gotta go. Its not even a matter of needing gear but more of needing money. If I was set on cash Id probably keep it and ditch the wavestation
